PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pain McGraw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louden Swain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swain has chosen Foreigner as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Louden Swain was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Pain McGraw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Louden Swain!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swain looks to score with a jab to the body but McGraw is just out of range.

Swain gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Swain manages to break the clinch.
McGraw on the wrong end of a nice hook.

McGraw changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Swain looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Swain looking for a sweep but McGraw has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Swain is working to get back to half guard.
McGraw content just to control the position here.
Swain is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Swain is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but McGraw is staying active.
Swain is wriggling around trying to escape.

Swain is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Swain tries to hold on but McGraw postures up.

Swain bucks up and throws McGraw to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
McGraw avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McGraw throws a hook but Swain avoids it easily.
Swain throws a big shot that misses.
McGraw lands a nice hook to Swain's body. Swain takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Swain tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Swain fails with the takedown
enabling McGraw to counter with a crisp jab.
Swain tries to close the distance and clinch but McGraw swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Swain tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and McGraw counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Swain closes the distance but McGraw moves to the side

and McGraw counters by clinching up.
A left hand lands to the body for McGraw.
Swain wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McGraw has him pressed against the cage.
McGraw's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
McGraw has Swain pressed against the cage.
McGraw tries to land knees in the clinch but Swain avoids the damage to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McGraw.
Swain lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Swain blocks an elbow strike.
McGraw is trying to force a seperation but Swain has the dominant position.
Swain lands with a right to the head.
Swain gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McGraw.
Swain has McGraw pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McGraw manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
McGraw doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Swain lands a nice uppercut.
McGraw stops a takedown attempt from Swain.
Pain McGraw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Louden Swain.
Swain looks gassed!

McGraw has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Swain is trying to keep an underhook but McGraw manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Swain is trying to escape back to his feet but McGraw uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Swain is not content to let McGraw control the position.

You can see the frustration on Swain's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Swain is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but McGraw is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
McGraw wants to control the pace but Swain is squirming around nicely.
McGraw sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
McGraw tries to control but Swain wriggling away.
McGraw controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Swain fails with the takedown
and McGraw counters with a left to the body.
McGraw staying out of range there.
Swain closes the distance but McGraw moves to the side
and McGraw counters with an inside leg kick.
Swain moves into range and connects with a jab.
McGraw thows a body shot but no joy.
No joy there for Swain, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McGraw scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Swain keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

McGraw has taken the fight to the clinch.
McGraw has Swain pressed against the cage, preventing Swain from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
McGraw has Swain pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Swain manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
McGraw throws a punch but it's blocked by Swain.
McGraw is trying to maintain a safe position but Swain gets an underhook and turns McGraw into the cage.
Swain lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of McGraw backwards.
Swain lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Swain lands a nice shot to the body.
Swain gets through McGraw's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

McGraw thows a body shot but no joy.

Swain closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McGraw is looking to break free of the clinch but Swain has double underhooks.
Swain lands a right hand.
Swain throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
McGraw has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Swain avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
McGraw wants to get back to striking at distance but Swain won't allow it.
McGraw unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Swain gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from McGraw.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McGraw swings and misses with a hook to the body.

McGraw takes a swing at Swain's ribcage but misses.
Swain looks to clinch
and Swain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Swain scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Swain wants to clinch but McGraw slips to the side
and McGraw counters with a right hand to the body.

McGraw lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nice sprawl there from Swain as McGraw shoots in.
McGraw is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Swain lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Swain prevents a takedown attempt there.
McGraw is leaning against Swain and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Swain seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

McGraw is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Swain is looking for a sweep. McGraw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well, if McGraw is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Swain keeping hold of McGraw's head, controlling as best he can.
McGraw works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Louden Swain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Swain wants to clinch.
Swain shoots in looking for a takedown. McGraw tries to sprawl out of it but Swain keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGraw manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McGraw lands a jab-cross combination.
Nice defenses there by McGraw.
Swain throws a series of punches but McGraw moves out of range.
Louden Swain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McGraw misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

McGraw shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McGraw was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Swain tries to reverse the position but McGraw maintains control.
Swain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McGraw tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McGraw trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Swain somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!

McGraw misses with an uppercut. Swain saw that one coming.
McGraw lands a right hook to the body.
Swain displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Swain misses with a combination
and McGraw counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
McGraw throws a body punch but Swain moves out of range.
McGraw lands a head kick!

McGraw darts in and clinches Swain up against the cage.
Swain cracks McGraw with a nice body shot.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, McGraw just misses with a elbow thrown towards Swain's brow.
Swain scores with a shot to the side of McGraw's head.

Swain pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Swain takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

McGraw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McGraw prevents Swain from getting back to his feet.
McGraw wants to control from the top but Swain keeps moving.

Swain wants to stand and escape but McGraw is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swain can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pain McGraw overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Swain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McGraw content to stall in guard here.

Pain McGraw showed his dominance in that final round.
I think McGraw has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
