Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oil Slick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Foul Play (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slick's entrance music is Careful With That Axe Eugene. A fine choice. Play has chosen Simon Says-Pharaohe Monche as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oil Slick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Foul Play!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Play misses.
Play swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Slick closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Play did well to prevent Slick getting side control.
Play blocking the ground and pound attempt from Slick.
Slick lands with a punch from half guard.
Slick thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Play's head.
Slick prevents Play from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slick wants to pass to mount but Play is defending the position.
Slick sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Play defending well though.
Play is in trouble now - Slick has advanced to mount!
Play in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Slick swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Play is now in Slick's guard. A big mistake from Slick there, giving up the dominant position!

Slick is looking for a triangle but Play pushes his legs off easily.
Slick bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Play's guard.
Slick throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Slick cracks Play with a solid left hand.

Slick has gone for a leg lock! Play slips out almost immediately though and dives into Slick's guard.
Slick lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Play!
Slick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Play working to try and regain half guard.

Slick looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Play slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Slick trying to mount his opponent but Play defends it.
Play is trying to control but can't.
Slick thows a huge punch but Play dodges it nicely.
Slick working over Play with some ground and pound. Play looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Slick lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Slick has gone for a leg lock! Play slips out almost immediately though and dives into Slick's guard.

Slick had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Play defends it easily.
Play trying to control the position from guard on top but Slick is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Play must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Slick will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Slick tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Play is able to avoid easily.
Slick shoots in and drives through. Play sprawls well.
Play misses with a low kick.
No luck for Slick with that takedown attempt.
Play dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Slick looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Play is fending him off so far but Slick persists. Nope, Play circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oil Slick. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Play thows a leg kick but Slick checks it

and Slick counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Slick.
Slick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Play works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Slick wants to free his trapped foot but Play is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oil Slick overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Play tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Slick wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Play tries to reverse the position but Slick maintains control.
Slick pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Play slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Slick wants to pass the guard but Play is defending well.

Play wants to get back to full guard.
Slick tries to pass to full mount but Play defends it.
Slick passes the guard and advances to mount!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slick lands a big shot there that rocks Play but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Slick connects with a good right hand that stumbles Play. Play circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Play walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Slick checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Slick fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Slick fails with the takedown.
Slick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Play tries to avoid it but Slick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Play to the ground. Play escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Slick shoots in but Play avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oil Slick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Slick avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Play will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Play throws the left hand but Slick avoids the punch easily.
Oil Slick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Slick shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Play sprawls well. Play wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Slick gets slowly back to his feet.
Slick checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Slick shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Play defends it nicely.
Play throws a front kick aimed at Slick's knee but Slick avoids it well.
Slick dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Play works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Slick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Play's waist but Play gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slick off to one side.
Play cracks Slick with a good jab.
Play throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Slick closes the distance and clinches up with Play, looking for a takedown. Slick pushes Play against the cage but Play circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Oil Slick is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Slick.
Slick looks for a takedown but Play sprawls well.
Slick has a takedown stuffed.
Play dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Slick. That did some damage!
No luck for Slick with that takedown attempt.
Play chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Play feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Slick's calf.
Play with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Slick ducks under a wild hook from Play.
Slick tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

The fighters circle momentarily. Play darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Slick throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Play's waist but Play gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Slick off to one side.
Play paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Play thumps Slick with a low kick.
Play does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Play throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Oil Slick has been cut.
Play connects with a jab.
Foul Play has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Foul Play seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oooh a lovely combination from Play sends Slick down but not out. Play dives into side control looking to finish.


Slick is rocked!
Play moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Play working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Slick struggling a bit here.

Slick is looking for a sweep.
Play working away.
Play wants to control but Slick is keeping him busy.
Slick manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Play is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Foul Play comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Slick has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
