PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between AJ Thindale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kasuto Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, AJ Thindale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kasuto Lee!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thindale misses with the combination.
Thindale scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Thindale misses with a head kick.
Thindale misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thindale lands a nice leg kick that just misses Lee's sensitive parts.
Thindale throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lee stuffs the takedown.
Thindale tries for a takedown but Lee sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Thindale misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Lee or perhaps it was just good defense by Thindale which made him look bad.
Thindale throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease.

Lee feints and as Thindale raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

I looks like Lee might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Lee not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Thindale manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lee manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lee is trying to keep Thindale in close.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kasuto Lee just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thindale lands a head kick!
Lee fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Thindale shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lee counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ Thindale. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thindale prevents Lee from improving position.
Lee takes a little break here. Thindale wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kasuto Lee dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Thindale scores with a kick to the body.

Thindale looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Lee!
Thindale seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Lee is holding on tight.
Lee is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thindale lands a heavy elbow.

Lee is wriggling around trying to escape.

Lee tries to lock up and control but Thindale gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lee is positioning himself well to prevent Thindale advancing to mount.
Lee is breathing heavily.
Thindale wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working.
Thindale content to control rather than advance.

Thindale is looking for a kimura here.

Lee preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Let's hope that Lee has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thindale is tying to control. Lee wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Thindale is trying to work for a kimura but Lee is defending well.
Lee is trying to control but can't.
Lee is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Lee manages to get to full guard.
Lee is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Thindale is stalling in the full guard.

Thindale thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Thindale stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lee swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thindale stays in close to Lee's body and controls the position.
Thindale tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Thindale dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Thindale wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position.
AJ Thindale overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Thindale is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Thindale wants to take a breather but Lee is having none of it.

Lee has left one of his arms exposed and Thindale doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Lee screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
