The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jax misses with a wild body shot.
Tony Jax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A lazy left from Thompson finds it's target.
Thompson throws a chopping leg kick but Jax manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Jax avoids the head kick by Thompson.

Thompson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Thompson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Jax trying to hold on to Thompson's head to control him but Thompson postures up.
Thompson wants to take a breather but Jax is having none of it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Thompson lands a nice short elbow.
Jax is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Thompson thows a huge punch but Jax dodges it nicely.
Jax manages to get to full guard.
Thompson is working Jax over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Thompson is in close to Jax's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jax pulls Thompson in close to prevent any damage.
Jax wants to sweep here but Thompson controlling him for the moment.
Thompson throws and elbow that misses. Jax uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Thompson's guard. Nice move by Jax!

Jax decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thompson, up you get!

Thompson walks into a straight right hand from Jax.
Thompson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Thompson swings for the body but Jax moves out of range.

Thompson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jax is fending him off so far but Thompson persists. Nope, Jax circles away and we're back to standing.
Jax paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A clash of legs there as Jax blocks the low kick.
Thompson doesn't manage to clinch there - Jax circles away.
Horrible takedown by Thompson or perhaps it was just good defense by Jax which made him look bad.
Thompson defending well as Jax loads up on a big left hand.
Jax rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Thompson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Thompson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jax stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jax wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cary Thompson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jax as he avoids it easily.

Jax scores with the left hand. Thompson knows he should have avoided that one.
Jax scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Thompson doesn't seem bothered though.
A right-left combo lands from Jax.

Jax lands a left and a right that send Thompson crashing to the mat, dazed. Jax thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Thompson is rocked!

It looks like Cary Thompson has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thompson bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Jax comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Thompson falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Thompson was out before he hit the floor!
