Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Tiago Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kanchelskis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mendez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mendez's back!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Mendez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kanchelskis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mendez.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mendez is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Tiago Mendez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Kanchelskis shoots and misses

and Mendez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mendez prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kanchelskis tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fjodor Kanchelskis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kanchelskis tries to score a body lock takedown but Mendez shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

and Mendez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kanchelskis's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kanchelskis wants to get back to his feet but Mendez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mendez postures up in Kanchelskis's guard and throws a big left but Kanchelskis blocks it.
Mendez stands and throws Kanchelskis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mendez tries to advance to mount but Kanchelskis denies him.

Kanchelskis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mendez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mendez passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Kanchelskis!

Mendez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kanchelskis looks a forlorn figure.


It looks like Fjodor Kanchelskis has been cut.
Mendez tries to control but Kanchelskis wriggling away.

Tiago Mendez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mendez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
