The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie checks the leg kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Gracie tries to clinch up.
Sakuraba throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gracie's waist but Gracie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sakuraba off to one side.

Sakuraba seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gracie swings around for an armbar but Sakuraba sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gracie's guard.

Sakuraba is taking a breather. Gracie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gracie has his foot on Sakuraba's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sakuraba works his way back into a safe position though.

Well Sakuraba has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
