PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kah Fing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Better (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Better is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hero of War. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kah Fing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Better!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Better is looking to clinch.
Fing avoids a kick to the body.
Better tries a head kick but it misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Better wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Better tries to stall but Fing uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Fing using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Fing tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Fing is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Better gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Better managing to block the knees to the body from Fing.
Better tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fing lands an elbow inside.
Fing throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Better jumps guard but Fing stands there with Better around his waist. Better gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fing jumps guard and drags Better to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Fing throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Fing trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Better trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Better tries to stand but Fing is controlling from the bottom.

Fing wants to get back to his feet but Better is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fing holds on and takes a little breather.
Better wants to pass the guard but Fing is keeping the position.
Fing wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Fing pushes Better up against the cage in a clinch.
Fing scores a nice knee to the body.
Better looks gassed!

Fing breaks from the clinch.
Fing throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Better stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Fing follows into mount!
Better tries to hold on but Fing postures up.
Fing controlling from mount.
Better working to try and regain half guard.

Better wants to control but Fing is having none of it.
Fing controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Better tries to lock up and control but Fing gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Better takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Fing tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kah Fing dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Better avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fing throws a wild body kick that Better sees coming a mile off.
Fing misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Better tries a head kick but it misses.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Fing - that will leave a mark!
Fing tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Better swivels and escapes.

Fing can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Better has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Fing misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fing tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Better is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Better shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Better showed some decent athleticism there.
Better tries to stand and escape but Fing is controlling the position.

Fing tries to get to full guard but Better has control of the leg.

The fighters are battling for position here. Fing manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Fing has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Better off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fing tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Better paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kah Fing seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fing will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Better shoots in but Fing avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fing throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Better doesn't manage to clinch there - Fing circles away.

Better tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fing swivels and escapes.

Fing takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eddie Better showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Fing throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Better's waist but Better gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fing off to one side.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kah Fing showed his dominance in that final round.
