The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Sonnen lands a jab-cross combination.
Sonnen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nelson throws an overhand right that lands on Sonnen's shoulder, as Sonnen tries to avoid the shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nelson is defended easily by Sonnen.
Sonnen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nelson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Sonnen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nelson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Nelson shoots in and drives through. Sonnen sprawls well.
Sonnen closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Nelson! Sonnen dives in looking to finish! Nelson is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
