Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Zann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zann is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Voices. Dan Sims had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 207.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sims tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Zann throws a head kick that misses.
Zann bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Zann wants to stand but Sims has his arm trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zann is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sims will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zann working the ground and pound but Sims is defending the strikes.
Zann in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Zann is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sims knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sims pushes Zann away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Zann gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sims is breathing heavily.
Zann just content to control the position.

Zann tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Zann wants to control for a moment but Sims uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zann can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sims escapes and gets back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sims wants to clinch up but Zann keeps it at a distance.
Sims avoids a kick to the body.
Zann closes the distance and clinches.
Sims tries a knee to the head but Zann blocks it.
Sims is fighting off a takedown attempt but Zann is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sims to the mat. Sims regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Zann wanted to stand there but Sims had control of the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Zann dominated that round.

Sims wants to clinch but Zann slips to the side
and Zann holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Zann is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sims gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown by Zann or perhaps it was just good defense by Sims which made him look bad.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sims is looking to control Zann's arms but Zann gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sims has his back to the cage.
Sims tries to land knees in the clinch but Zann avoids the damage to the body.
Zann is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sims tries a knee to the head but Zann blocks it.
Zann jumps guard but Sims stands there with Zann around his waist. Zann gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

and Zann decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sims's guard.

Luke Zann showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sims will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
