The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marinelli swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marinelli displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kerns throws out the jab.
Kerns clinches up against the cage.
Kerns prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kerns breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Marinelli keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kerns.
Marinelli will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Marinelli closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kerns circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Marinelli. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kerns slips a jab and a cross from Marinelli.
