The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuukonen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Gray punishes Kuukonen's body with a nice straight punch.
Kuukonen avoids the body shot from Gray.
Kuukonen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gray.
Gray throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kuukonen misses with a series of wild punches.
Gray digs a good body shot into Kuukonen's ribs.
Kuukonen lands a glancing blow to the side of Gray's head.
Kuukonen throws a hook to the side of Gray's head but Gray sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Gray throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kuukonen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kuukonen looks to land a left hand but Gray moved out of range nicely.
Gray takes a swing at Kuukonen's ribcage but misses.
Kuukonen tries to bum rush Gray with a series of wild strikes but Gray uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gray lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kuukonen drops his hands momentarily and Gray takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Gray holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Gray is looking to improve his position.

Kuukonen working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Gray's thigh. Gray counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Gray wants to get back to his feet but Kuukonen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kuukonen is looking to work some ground and pound but Gray has wrist control.
Gray lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kuukonen!
Gray misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Kuukonen is squirming around, avoiding Gray's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gray lands with some strikes.
Gray cracks Kuukonen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gray throws a sloppy strike and Kuukonen uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Kuukonen has ended up in Gray's guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gray moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kuukonen has worked his arm free - good work by Kuukonen!
