The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

gdfd has closed the distance and engaged Sparrow in a clinch.

gdfd has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sparrow clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
gdfd lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Sparrow.

What can Sparrow do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

gdfd slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Sparrow is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

The referee stands the fighters back up. gerf gdfd just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
gdfd looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sparrow is fending him off so far but gdfd persists. Nope, Sparrow circles away and we're back to standing.

and gdfd counters by moving into the clinch.

gdfd turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and gdfd manages to end up in side control.
Sparrow tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but gdfd wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sparrow can't do much from the bottom here.

and gdfd counters with a shoot takedown. Sparrow fights it but they end up in guard.
gdfd is breathing heavily.

gdfd is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Sparrow still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Sparrow has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
