PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jin Sen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sen comes to the cage accompanied by Let It Rock. Rick Shields told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sen misses with a wild combination.

Shields gets a takedown into half guard.
Shields prevents Sen from standing back up.
Shields missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Shields is looking for a kimura but Sen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shields to get the leverage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shields is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sen is just riding it out for now. Shields eventually gives up the hold.
Shields tries to pass the half guard into mount. Sen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Sen kicks Shields off and gets back to his feet.
Shields throws a left and a right that both miss
and Shields takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Shields walks straight into a right hand from Sen - that's dropped him! Sen jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Shields from any more punishment! Shields complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
