Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spinks closes this distance looking for a takedown but Samson circles away.

Spinks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Samson wants to get back to his feet but Spinks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Spinks distracts Samson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Samson scores with a nice shot.
Samson is trying to control the position but Spinks postures up.

Samson is bucking up trying to escape but Spinks cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Spinks with shots to the head and body - Samson looks very uncomfortable down there.
Spinks is landing with some decent strikes but Samson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Samson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The referee warns Samson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Spinks shoots in and bounces Samson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Spinks sneaks out the side door and pushes Samson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Samson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spinks moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Spinks decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spinks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Samson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

JJ Spinks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

I would just about give that final round to John Samson.
I think Spinks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
