Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mik Vik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vik comes to the cage accompanied by Papas got a brand new bag. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vik misses with a straight left.
Gomi lands a nice looking body shot.

Gomi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Vik tries to bum rush Gomi with a series of wild strikes but Gomi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Vik throws a series of punches but Gomi avoids them all with ease.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gomi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

and Gomi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

A lazy left from Vik finds it's target.
Mik Vik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Gomi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Vik seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gomi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Vik seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gomi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Well Gomi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
