Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krzys Soszynski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paolo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Jay-Z - Brooklyn We Go Hard. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soszynski shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Soszynski was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mendez tries to hold on but Soszynski postures up.

Mendez is looking to improve his position but Soszynski isn't that keen on the idea.

Soszynski wants to finish this one by submission but Mendez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Soszynski.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mendez tries to buck Soszynski off but Soszynski is having none of it.
Mendez parries the strikes from Soszynski easily there. Soszynski is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mendez to escape.
Mendez gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Soszynski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mendez is just riding it out for now. Soszynski eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soszynski thows a huge punch but Mendez dodges it nicely.
Mendez is refusing to be controlled, as Soszynski sits in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Soszynski connects with a nice short shot to Mendez's temple.

Soszynski makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mendez closes the distance but Soszynski moves to the side

and Soszynski decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mendez's guard.
