Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brain Smasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Weddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smasher comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem: Go to sleep Bitch . Weddle is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: remember the name - fort minor. Brain Smasher had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brain Smasher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wes Weddle!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smasher looks to score with a jab to the body but Weddle is just out of range.
Weddle throws a big shot that misses.
Smasher throws a low kick but it's checked well by Weddle.

Smasher clinches.

Weddle manages to break the clinch.
Weddle lands a nice leg kick that just misses Smasher's sensitive parts.
Weddle misses with a straight left.
Smasher moves out of range of the leg kick from Weddle.
Weddle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The fighters circling - Weddle throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A telegraphed right hand from Weddle misses the target.
Weddle on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Smasher keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Weddle.

Weddle throws a leg kick but Smasher sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Weddle fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smasher manages to avoid it.

Nice uppercut lands for Smasher. That snapped Weddle's head back.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Smasher checks a leg kick.

Smasher forces Weddle back against the cage and clinches.
Smasher has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Weddle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Weddle.
A right handed body shot lands from Smasher.
Smasher goes for a takedown attempt but Weddle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Weddle throws a sloppy head kick and Smasher moves out of range easily.
Smasher is trying hard to land a takedown here. Weddle sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Weddle, as that shot connected.

Smasher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Weddle is fending him off so far but Smasher persists. Nope, Weddle circles away and we're back to standing.

Weddle is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Smasher darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Weddle throws a shot from downtown. Smasher moves away and avoids it.

Weddle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smasher tries to close the distance and clinch up but Weddle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Weddle throws the kick towards the body but Smasher avoids it.
Weddle throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Weddle uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Weddle throws out a leg kick but Smasher moves out of range and Weddle only half commits.

and Smasher counters with a takedown into side control.
Smasher cracks Weddle with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Smasher works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Smasher looking to control but instead Weddle has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Weddle is trying to stand back up but Smasher is controlling him
Weddle looks gassed!
Smasher seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Weddle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Smasher looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Weddle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Weddle wants to get back to his feet.
Smasher with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Smasher wants to control but Weddle is keeping him busy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Smasher avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Weddle throws a sloppy body shot

and Smasher counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Smasher not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Smasher throwing shots but Weddle is blocking nicely.
Weddle is not content to let Smasher control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smasher is controlling the pace.
Smasher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Smasher tries to pass the half guard into mount. Weddle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Weddle's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Smasher is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Weddle is surviving well by controlling Smasher's body position as best he can.

Smasher has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Weddle is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smasher closes the distance and clinches up with Weddle, looking for a takedown. Smasher pushes Weddle against the cage but Weddle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Wes Weddle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and Smasher decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Weddle's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smasher throws a strike but Weddle rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Brain Smasher overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brain Smasher.
I think Weddle has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
