Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chris Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Barbaroza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fred Barbaroza is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Barbaroza!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man misses with the combination.

Barbaroza shoots in and bounces Man off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barbaroza thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Barbaroza passes Man's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Barbaroza seems to be working for a kimura but Man defends the submission attempt.

Barbaroza is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Man has managed to free his arm - good work.

Man is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Barbaroza is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Man doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Barbaroza.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like Fred Barbaroza has been cut.

Man lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barbaroza circles away quickly and effectively.
Man changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Man scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Man misses with a double jab.
Barbaroza is still on wobbly legs! Can Man finish him?

Man moves into the clinch successfully.
Barbaroza seems to have recovered his senses.
Man is pressed up against the cage. Barbaroza has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Man down to the mat. Man avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Man lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Man throws a nice looking combination but Barbaroza bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Barbaroza drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Man dives on top into guard.

Man throws a chopping leg kick but Barbaroza manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Barbaroza feints and as Man raises his hands in defense, Barbaroza changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Barbaroza postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Man is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barbaroza, into his guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Man knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barbaroza on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Man shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barbaroza's guard.

Barbaroza escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Man gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris Man.
I think Man has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
