Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Nobonenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Goldsmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nobonenko comes to the cage accompanied by Fire Head. Goldsmith is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dos Equis. Yuri Nobonenko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Goldsmith!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldsmith avoids the body shot from Nobonenko.

Goldsmith rushes Nobonenko and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Goldsmith throws a knee to the head but misses.
Goldsmith drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nobonenko pulls his leg out and moves away.
Goldsmith throws a nice looking combination but Nobonenko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Goldsmith takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Goldsmith tries to clinch up but Nobonenko circles away and keeps his distance.
Goldsmith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Goldsmith blocks a low kick nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nobonenko misses with a few strikes there.
Nobonenko misses with a series of wild punches.
Nobonenko takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

and Goldsmith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nobonenko won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Nobonenko is trying to control Goldsmith's posture but Goldsmith avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nobonenko is looking to reverse the position.

Nobonenko is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Nobonenko sneaks back into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Goldsmith throws a series of punches but Nobonenko avoids them all with ease.
Goldsmith has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

and Nobonenko counters with a nice body shot.
Goldsmith dodges the punch combination from Nobonenko.
Nobonenko lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Goldsmith has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nobonenko finds it's way round the side to connect with Goldsmith's head.

and Goldsmith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nobonenko is trying to hold Goldsmith in close to prevent damage but Goldsmith has managed to pass into half guard.
Nobonenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goldsmith is working away from the top position though.
Nobonenko is looking for a sweep. Goldsmith is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Goldsmith is fighting to break Nobonenko's control of his arms but Nobonenko is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Goldsmith gets to his feet - Nobonenko follows without any prompting.
Goldsmith throws a right and a left that Nobonenko avoids nicely.

Nobonenko lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

and Goldsmith counters with a series of strikes. Nobonenko will be more careful next time no doubt.
Goldsmith is breathing heavily.
Nobonenko lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nobonenko connects with a solid leg kick.
Nobonenko lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Nobonenko.
Nobonenko avoids the head kick by Goldsmith.
Nobonenko tries to bum rush Goldsmith with a series of wild strikes but Goldsmith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nobonenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Goldsmith tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Nobonenko is able to avoid easily.
Nobonenko takes a swing at Goldsmith's ribcage but misses.
Nobonenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Goldsmith.
Nobonenko misses with a few strikes there.
Nobonenko throws a right hand that Goldsmith ducks under and follows up with a left that Goldsmith also avoids with ease.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nobonenko controls Goldsmith momentarily but Goldsmith frees himself.

Nobonenko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Goldsmith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Goldsmith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nobonenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goldsmith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nobonenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goldsmith's guard.
Nobonenko wants to pass the guard but Goldsmith is keeping the position.

Nobonenko has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Goldsmith to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Nobonenko is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Goldsmith pulls down on the head and he's put Nobonenko to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jonathan Goldsmith!
