Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Makleiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Makleiz will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tony Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Makleiz!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makleiz closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like Tony Johnson has been cut.
Johnson fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Makleiz is out of range.
Makleiz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Johnson.
Johnson feints and then cracks Makleiz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Makleiz down.
Johnson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Makleiz is retaining full guard.
Makleiz keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
Makleiz wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Johnson stays in close to Makleiz's body and controls the position.

Johnson advances to half guard.
Johnson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Johnson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Makleiz has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Johnson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Makleiz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Makleiz shrugs it off.

Johnson breaks from Makleiz's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Johnson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Makleiz tries to buck Johnson off but he can't manage it.
Johnson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Johnson tries to control but Makleiz wriggling away.

Johnson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Johnson is breathing heavily.

Johnson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Makleiz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Makleiz and Johnson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Johnson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Makleiz wants to get back to his feet but Johnson drags him back down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Makleiz is not content to let Johnson control the position.
Makleiz is trying to buck Johnson off.
Johnson landing a few strikes.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Makleiz has escaped the position, nice work there.
Johnson looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Makleiz is avoiding damage well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mauricio Makleiz will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Tony Johnson's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fight stays on the outside here - Makleiz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Makleiz napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Johnson trying to control the action but Makleiz is working from the bottom.
Johnson is really struggling to control Makleiz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson tries to advance to mount but can't.

Johnson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Makleiz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Johnson's guard! Nice work there by Makleiz!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Makleiz wants to stand but Johnson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Makleiz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Makleiz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Makleiz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Makleiz wants to stand but Johnson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Makleiz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Makleiz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Johnson wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson has a closed guard, preventing Makleiz from standing up.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Makleiz defends it easily.
Makleiz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nice uppercut there from Makleiz.
A jab lands there for Makleiz.
Makleiz fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Johnson on the side of the head.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.
Makleiz throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Johnson.
Johnson throws a head kick but Makleiz moves out of range.
Johnson takes one to the chin there.
Makleiz throws out a powerful jab.
Mauricio Makleiz seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Johnson takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Makleiz cracks Johnson with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Johnson looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Makleiz finish him?


Johnson is rocked!
Makleiz connects with a nice cross there... Johnson is looking wobbly and Makleiz recognises it - he's rushed in and lands two more brutal shots that send Johnson to the canvas, out cold! A brutal finish to the fight - Makleiz jumps onto the cage to celebrate with the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mauricio Makleiz!
