PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica (Stone Cold Crazy). Martin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Song of Ice and Fire Art Collection kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George Martin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Stone throws out the jab.

Stone throws a right hand that Martin ducks under and follows up with a left that Martin also avoids with ease.
Stone swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stone throws an overhand right that lands on Martin's shoulder, as Martin tries to avoid the shot.

It looks like George Martin has been cut.
James Stone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Martin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stone was well out of range. Poor timing from Martin.

Stone is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Martin's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Martin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Martin.
Martin dodges the punch combination from Stone.

Martin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Stone sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
James Stone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Martin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Stone slips a jab and a cross from Martin.
Martin throws a front kick aimed at Stone's knee but Stone avoids it well.
Stone shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martin connects with a nice short shot to Stone's temple.

Martin wants to free his trapped foot but Stone is holding on for dear life with his legs.

George Martin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Martin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
