Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Regan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jones Shane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane has chosen KARDINAL OFFISHALL 'WE GON GO' as his entrance music. Joe Regan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Regan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jones Shane!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shane tries to clinch there but Regan circles away.

Regan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shane did well to prevent Regan getting side control.
Regan is controlling the pace.
Shane flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Still in half guard, Regan seems content to control.
Shane gets back to full guard.
Regan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Shane has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Regan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Shane tries to strike from the bottom.
Shane can't keep his opponent in guard - Regan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Shane is looking for a sweep. Regan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Regan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Shane looks like he's trying to stand up.
Regan is controlling the pace.
Regan thows a huge punch but Shane dodges it nicely.
Regan is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Regan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Joe Regan just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Shane thumps Regan with a low kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Regan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shane pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shane wants to clinch up but Regan keeps it at a distance.

Regan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Shane is looking to stand up but Regan isn't so interested in that idea.

Regan looking to sit in guard and control but Shane gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shane throws and elbow that misses. Regan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Shane's guard. Nice move by Regan!

Shane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Regan was well out of range. Poor timing from Shane.
Regan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Shane stuffs the takedown attempt from Regan. Regan gets slowly back to his feet.
Shane is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Regan shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Regan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Regan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - Shane looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Regan blocks a head kick by Shane.

Shane drives through and clinches with Regan against the ropes.
Shane lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Shane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shane lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Shane lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Regan circles away quickly and effectively.
Regan moves forwards but Shane connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shane stalks Regan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Regan's face. Regan staggers backwards, shaken.
Shane throws a head kick that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Regan keeps the fight on the outside.

Shane closes the distance and clinches.

Shane breaks from the clinch.
Shane tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Shane is looking to slow Regan down with leg kicks.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Regan is defended easily by Shane.
Shane bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Shane throws a combination. Regan tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shane throws a head kick but Regan moves out of range.
Shane tries to clinch there but Regan circles away.

Regan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Regan lands in his opponent's guard.

Regan lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Shane is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Regan defends well.
Regan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shane's guard.

Regan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shane punching from the bottom.
Shane flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Regan slows the pace down in half guard.
Regan prevents Shane from standing back up.
Shane is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Regan seems content to control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Regan looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Jones Shane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shane explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Regan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Shane sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Shane closes the distance and pushes Regan back into the ropes.

Shane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Regan misses with a takedown attempt - Shane sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Shane dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Regan. That did some damage!
Shane comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Shane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Regan looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Shane tries to clinch up.
Regan shoots in looking for a takedown. Shane tries to sprawl out of it but Regan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Shane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Shane buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Regan looks for a takedown but Shane sprawls well.
Shane is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shane swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shane lands a head kick. Regan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Good exchange - Shane coming out on top.
Shane throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Regan circles away from the clinch attempt.
A combination from Shane does no damage.

Regan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Regan stops Shane from getting back to his feet.
Regan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shane with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Shane is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Regan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Regan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shane for as long as he can get away with.

Shane pushes Regan off looking to stand but Regan dives back in and keeps control.

Shane is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Regan scores with a couple of nice shots.
Regan is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Shane throws a right hand that Regan ducks under and follows up with a left that Regan also avoids with ease.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Regan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shane's guard.

Shane is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Regan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Regan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Regan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Well, if Regan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
