Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Victor Karmin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antero Vipunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karmin comes to the cage accompanied by Eyes of the World. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Karmin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antero Vipunen!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karmin tries to clinch but Vipunen moves out of range.
Vipunen lands a nice leg kick that just misses Karmin's sensitive parts.
Karmin stuffs the takedown.

Karmin pushes Vipunen up against the cage in a clinch.
Karmin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Vipunen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Karmin lands a shoulder strike.
Karmin blocks the elbow strike.
Karmin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vipunen just stands there and leans against the cage.

Vipunen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Karmin feints and then cracks Vipunen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Vipunen down.
Vipunen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Karmin tries to clinch there but Vipunen circles away.

Antero Vipunen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Karmin pushes Vipunen up against the cage in a clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Karmin lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Vipunen backwards.

Karmin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Karmin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Vipunen manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Karmin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vipunen, who protects the arm well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Karmin takes an elbow to the forehead.
Vipunen lands a left hand that snaps the head of Karmin backwards.
Karmin gets underhooks to prevent Vipunen's takedown attempt.
Karmin makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Vipunen throws an elbow but it misses.
Vipunen working some nice short punches in the clinch.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
With the fighters up against the cage, Vipunen throws an elbow but misses.
Vipunen scores a nice knee to the body.
Vipunen lands an elbow inside that Karmin shrugs off.

Vipunen manages to break the clinch.

Karmin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Karmin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vipunen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Karmin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Vipunen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Karmin has Vipunen in his guard.
Vipunen wants to control from the top but Karmin keeps moving.
Karmin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Vipunen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Karmin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Karmin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Karmin!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karmin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Vipunen's legs.
Vipunen tries to improve position but can't.

Karmin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Victor Karmin will probably get the nod.

Karmin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vipunen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Vipunen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Karmin but Karmin pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Karmin counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Karmin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vipunen wants to get back to his feet but Karmin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Vipunen can't keep his opponent in guard - Karmin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Karmin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Vipunen pivots, looking for a leg kick but Karmin is out of range and Vipunen settles back down.
