PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Asmodeus Breed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Wade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Breed kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I Put A Spell On You - Screaming Jay Hawkins. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wade ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Breed paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Wade fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Breed closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wade is trying to stand up here but Breed is controlling him well.
Breed tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wade knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Breed thows a huge punch but Wade dodges it nicely.
Wade pushes Breed off looking to stand but Breed dives back in and keeps control.
Wade regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Breed.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Breed has gone for a leg lock! Wade slips out almost immediately though and dives into Breed's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Breed ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wade moves away.

Breed postures up in Wade's guard and throws a big left but Wade blocks it.

Breed postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wade is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Breed, into his guard.

Breed is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wade defends well.

Wade works to advance to full mount. Breed defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Breed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wade looking to control but Breed is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Breed cracks Wade with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Breed connects with a jab.
Breed shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wade as he jumps to the side.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Breed accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Breed wants to control from the top but Wade keeps moving.
Wade utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wade working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Breed.
Breed wants to pass the guard but Wade is keeping the position.

Breed in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Breed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wade tries to avoid it but Breed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wade to the ground. Wade escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Breed shoots in and bounces Wade off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Breed missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Breed postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Breed is looking to work some ground and pound but Wade has wrist control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Breed lands a nice shot that snaps Wade's head back.
Wade gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Breed shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Breed slips a nice elbow through Wade's hands, connecting with Wade's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asmodeus Breed dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Breed looks to land a strike but Wade avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wade preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Breed sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wade's guard.
Breed seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wade does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wade regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Breed.

Breed stands and throws Wade's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Breed working the ground and pound but Wade is defending the strikes.
Breed lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wade down.
Wade is trying to get back to his feet.
Breed in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Breed wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wade, who protects the arm well.

Breed is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wade knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wade wants to get back to his feet but Breed drags him back down.
Breed scoring with punches from side control.
Breed working the ground and pound.
Breed tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Wade avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Breed.

Breed is working to tighten is grip on Wade's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Wade has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Breed is really squeezing tight and eventually Wade passes out! Breed breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
