The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pekkanen fails with the takedown.
A big left from Pekkanen misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pekkanen. Castro does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pekkanen tries to bum rush Castro with a series of wild strikes but Castro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Castro.
Pekkanen stops Castro from passing to mount.

Castro tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Pekkanen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pekkanen tries to buck Castro off but Castro is having none of it.
Castro wants to control but Pekkanen is keeping him busy.

Castro goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pekkanen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Castro but great work by Pekkanen.
Castro sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Castro manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Pekkanen is breathing heavily.
Castro controls Pekkanen momentarily but Pekkanen frees himself.

Pekkanen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Castro dives on top into guard.

Castro is working to tighten is grip on Pekkanen's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pekkanen has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Castro is really squeezing tight and eventually Pekkanen passes out! Castro breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
