Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Coen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Roman Riquelme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Coen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Coen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Roman Riquelme!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Franklyn Lucas and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coen tries to clinch up but Riquelme circles away and keeps his distance.
Riquelme shoots in looking for a takedown. Coen tries to sprawl out of it but Riquelme keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Riquelme lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Riquelme.
Riquelme just content to control the position.
Coen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Riquelme wants to control but Coen is keeping him busy.
Coen is trying to maintain the position but Riquelme is very close to passing his half guard.
Riquelme trying to mount his opponent but Coen defends it.

Coen is trying to get back to full guard.

Riquelme is working for a kimura but Coen is defending it quite comfortably.
Riquelme wants to free his trapped foot but Coen is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Riquelme fails with the takedown.
Coen tries to clinch but Riquelme moves out of range.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Horrible takedown by Riquelme or perhaps it was just good defense by Coen which made him look bad.
Dan Coen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Roman Riquelme.
Coen shoots and misses

and Riquelme counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Coen trying to hold on to Riquelme's head to control him but Riquelme postures up.
Riquelme works his way into side control.

Riquelme is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Coen has escaped the position, nice work there.
Coen takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Riquelme moves into full mount!
Coen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Riquelme can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Coen is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Coen is desperately trying to improve his position but Riquelme has a good base and remains in mount.
Coen is squirming around, avoiding Riquelme's attempts to control the action.
Riquelme is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Riquelme moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Coen has worked his arm free - good work by Coen!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Riquelme is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Coen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Riquelme advances to full mount.
Riquelme controlling his opponent.

Riquelme jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Coen is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Coen and Riquelme has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Coen is looking to reverse the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riquelme tries for a takedown but Coen circles away easily

and Coen counters by moving into the clinch.
Coen with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Riquelme is working for takedown but Coen is calmly controlling the position for now.
Riquelme goes for a takedown in the clinch but Coen prevents it.

Riquelme shoots in and bounces Coen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Riquelme wants to pass the guard but Coen is defending well.
Riquelme wants to control but Coen is keeping him busy.

Coen holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Riquelme looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Riquelme has his takedown stuffed

and Coen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Riquelme won't be happy with that.
Riquelme prevents Coen from moving into mount.
Riquelme tries to bench press Coen off him but Coen keeps the position.
Riquelme prevents Coen from improving position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Coen throwing strikes but Riquelme manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Riquelme controlling the position from side mount.
Coen stops Riquelme from passing to mount.
Riquelme advances nicely into full mount.
Coen stops Riquelme from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Coen can't escape the position.

Riquelme is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Riquelme fails with the takedown

and Coen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Riquelme's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Coen stopping the sweep attempt from Riquelme.
Riquelme wants to hit a switch here but Coen passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Riquelme there!
Riquelme wants to hold on but Coen pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Coen dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Riquelme works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Coen is trying to maintain the position but Riquelme is very close to passing his half guard.
Coen tries to roll over but Riquelme keeps him under control.
Riquelme is pressing down on Coen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Coen is holding on for now.

Riquelme jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Coen manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Riquelme goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Coen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Riquelme but great work by Coen.
Coen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Riquelme keeps working.
Riquelme wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Coen sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Riquelme is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Riquelme takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Riquelme manages to work his way to half guard, despite Coen's best efforts.
Riquelme is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Riquelme is not content to let Coen control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Riquelme is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Coen thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Riquelme to regain full guard.
Coen trying to control the position from guard on top but Riquelme is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Coen is really struggling to control Riquelme but he's trying to hold on to the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Riquelme uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Coen closes the distance but Riquelme moves to the side

and Riquelme counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Coen is staying active underneath Riquelme, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Juan Roman Riquelme comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Riquelme has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
