The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ortiz circles away quickly and effectively.
Gracie throws a nice outside leg kick.
Ortiz moves out of range as Gracie strikes.
Gracie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Gracie uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ortiz has time to react.
Gracie wants to slow Ortiz down by chopping away at his legs.
Ortiz slips a jab and a cross from Gracie.
Ortiz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gracie pinned against the cage. Gracie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie leaves Ortiz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ortiz takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Gracie digs a good body shot into Ortiz's ribs.
Gracie scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Gracie lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Ortiz falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
