Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lance Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and tall lanky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). tall lanky will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
lanky showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stevens.
lanky blocks a leg kick.
Nice body kick there by lanky.
Stevens misses with a kick to the body.
lanky avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
lanky scores with a jab to the jaw.
Stevens throws an ugly left hook that misses
and lanky counters with a nice uppercut.
Stevens throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and lanky counters with a three punch combo that has Stevens backing up. Stevens nods at lanky to acknowledge the strikes.
Stevens throws a left and a right that both miss
and lanky cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Crunch! lanky slams his shin into Stevens's torso.
lanky lands a nice looking kick to the body. Stevens takes a step back to recover.
Stevens pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stevens tries a head kick but it misses.

Stevens shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in lanky's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Stevens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stevens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Stevens is breathing heavily.
lanky wants to improve his position but instead Stevens has moved into half guard.

Stevens seems to be looking for submissions.
lanky works his way to full guard. Good work.
Stevens preventing the sweep.
lanky trying to keep a closed guard but Stevens is proving a slippery customer.

Stevens drops back looking for a leg! lanky is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and lanky manages to kick Stevens off! Stevens jumps back into lanky's guard.
lanky is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and lanky counters with a series of strikes. Stevens will be more careful next time no doubt.
lanky fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Stevens.

lanky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

lanky uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Stevens is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

lanky is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Stevens walks into a straight right hand from lanky.
lanky fails to land with a series of punches.

A left and a right from lanky both land. Nice combination.
lanky throws a series of strikes that have Stevens backpedaling.
A head kick from lanky lands but Stevens takes it in his stride.
lanky looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from lanky - that will leave a mark!
Stevens misses with a double jab
and lanky counters with a big head kick but Stevens shrugs it off.
Stevens takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
lanky keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Stevens motions for lanky to come forward. Stevens throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Stevens shoots for a double leg takedown but lanky sprawls well. He's pushed Stevens's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stevens gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Stevens throws a predictable looking body shot
and lanky counters with a straight right hand.
Stevens throws a right and a left that both miss.
lanky lands a jab-cross combination.

Stevens jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Stevens throws a sloppy head kick
and lanky makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Stevens really felt that one!
tall lanky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
lanky lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Horrible takedown by Stevens or perhaps it was just good defense by lanky which made him look bad.
lanky is looking to slow Stevens down with leg kicks.

Stevens closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
lanky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stevens. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Stevens advances to mount.
Stevens fails to take his opponent's back.

Stevens working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. lanky turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Stevens off and cradles lanky's limp body as Stevens celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Lance Stevens!
