PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bonds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samoa Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bonds comes to the cage accompanied by Brantley Gilbert - Kick it in the Sticks. Samoa Joe will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Bonds!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samoa Joe!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bonds moves into the clinch successfully.

Bonds escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bonds tries to clinch up.
Joe lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bonds at a distance.

Joe shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bonds's guard.
Bonds is looking to stand up but Joe isn't so interested in that idea.
Joe working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Joe stops Bonds from standing up.
Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Bonds is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Joe throwing strikes but missing.
Joe is in close to Bonds's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Joe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joe not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Joe wanted to stand there but Bonds had control of the position.
Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Joe passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Joe decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Bonds counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Joe looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Bonds is defending well. Joe quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Bonds has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Joe celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
