PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takumi Fujiwara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kris Coleman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Takumi Fujiwara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kris Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fujiwara paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Fujiwara throws a jab but it's blocked by Coleman.
Coleman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Donk. Fujiwara catches Coleman right on the button with a cross.
Fujiwara misses with an uppercut. Coleman saw that one coming.
Fujiwara throws a jab when Coleman was well out of range.
Fujiwara throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Coleman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Coleman tries to clinch up but Fujiwara circles away and keeps his distance.
Coleman has a takedown stuffed.
Fujiwara scores with a one two! Coleman had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fujiwara misses with a body shot.
Fujiwara throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fujiwara throws out a loose jab but Coleman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fujiwara slaps away a takedown attempt from Coleman, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Takumi Fujiwara has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kris Coleman.
Coleman tries to clinch up but Fujiwara circles away and keeps his distance.

Fujiwara throws a right hand that Coleman ducks under and follows up with a left that Coleman also avoids with ease.
Coleman takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Coleman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fujiwara but Fujiwara pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Fujiwara fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Coleman manages to avoid it.

Fujiwara throws a looping overhand right but Coleman ducks down to avoid it.
No joy there for Fujiwara, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Coleman shoots in but no luck this time.
Fujiwara works Coleman's body with a nice hook.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Coleman.
Fujiwara lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Coleman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fujiwara sprawls well initially but Coleman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coleman is thwarting Fujiwara's attempts to control the position.
Fujiwara tries to get to full guard but Coleman has control of the leg.

Fujiwara is trying to maintain the position but Coleman is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fighters circle momentarily. Fujiwara darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Coleman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fujiwara throws out the jab.
Fujiwara lands a lovely overhand right.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Coleman shoots for a double leg takedown but Fujiwara sprawls well. He's pushed Coleman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Fujiwara closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Coleman moves out of range of the strikes.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Fujiwara will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
