Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Battery Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Bede (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bede drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Maximus wants to get back to his feet.
Bede tries to advance to mount but Maximus instead regains half guard.

Bede is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Maximus defends it well.
Maximus is trying to stand up here but Bede is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bede tries to pass the half guard into mount. Maximus knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Maximus walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Bede ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maximus moves away.
Maximus misses with a double jab.
Bede throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Maximus throws a right and a left that Bede avoids nicely.

and Bede counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Maximus throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bede counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

A chopping leg kick lands by Maximus.
Battery Maximus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maximus throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bede sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bede dives in and grabs Maximus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maximus pushes down on Bede's head and hops out.

Bede throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Maximus has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Maximus there as he acknowledges the shot.

Bede fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Maximus looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Bede makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Bede feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Bede throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bede works his foot free and advances to mount.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bede wants to finish this one by submission but Maximus is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Bede.
Maximus is trying to stand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bede lands with some strikes.

That's time! Maximus's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bede is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Maximus rather than just go for the knockout.

Maximus wants to stand and escape but Bede is having none of it.
Bede stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maximus swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bede drops back, looking for a kneebar! Maximus looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Maximus looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Maximus!
Bede is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Maximus is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Maximus wanted to stand there but Bede had control of the position.

Bede is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Maximus frees his head nicely. Oh but Bede has switched to an armbar! Maximus is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
