PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Holnick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marlo Mouzone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marlo Mouzone told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marlo Mouzone!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mouzone swinging wildly here.
A slapping leg kick lands for Holnick.
Mouzone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Holnick.
Mouzone ducks under a wild hook from Holnick.
Mouzone fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Holnick looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mouzone throws a series of punches but Holnick avoids them all with ease.
Mouzone tries to score a power double leg takedown but Holnick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mouzone somewhat.
Holnick throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mouzone.
Holnick takes one to the chin there.

Holnick shoots in but Mouzone avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Holnick feints and as Mouzone raises his hands in defense, Holnick changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mouzone is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Holnick wants to control but Mouzone is keeping him busy.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Holnick lands a nice short elbow.

Holnick wants to free his trapped foot but Mouzone is holding on for dear life with his legs.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Holnick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Holnick passes Mouzone's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Holnick moves into full mount! Mouzone won't be happy about that!
Holnick is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mouzone can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Poor strikes thrown by Holnick there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Mouzone can't escape the position.
Holnick has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mouzone's face.
Holnick looking to control but Mouzone is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Holnick has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Holnick scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Holnick takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mouzone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Holnick lands with some strikes.
Holnick wants to control the pace but Mouzone is squirming around nicely.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Holnick fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mouzone is out of range.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Horrible takedown by Mouzone or perhaps it was just good defense by Holnick which made him look bad.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Holnick feints and then cracks Mouzone's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mouzone down.

Marlo Mouzone is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holnick is looking to work some ground and pound but Mouzone has wrist control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Holnick throws a lazy right hand but Mouzone sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Holnick leaves Mouzone with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
