Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander osth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jari Nieminen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nieminen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Raised Fist - Wounds kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Alexander osth has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander osth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jari Nieminen!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nieminen dives in and grabs osth's left leg, looking for a takedown. osth pushes down on Nieminen's head and hops out.
The fight stays on the outside here - osth looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Nieminen fails with a takedown attempt.
osth shoots in for a takedown but Nieminen shows good takedown defense.
osth wants to clinch.
osth doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Nieminen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nieminen won't allow osth to get back to his feet.
osth is trying to keep Nieminen in close.
osth looking for a sweep. Not yet osth, not yet.
osth is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nieminen is controlling him.

Nieminen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nieminen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
osth wants to stand and escape but Nieminen is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
osth tries to stand but Nieminen is controlling his head.
Nieminen takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

osth decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nieminen to his feet.
Nieminen with a poor takedown

and osth holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Nieminen can't get the takedown.
Nieminen tries to score a body lock takedown but osth shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
osth misses with the head strike.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
osth misses with a punch on the inside.
osth lands a damaging elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jari Nieminen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


osth lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nieminen circles away quickly and effectively.
Alexander osth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice body kick there by osth.
osth looks to clinch

and Nieminen counters with a nice double leg into side control. osth won't be happy with that.
osth tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nieminen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
osth is pushing Nieminen's head away, looking to escape. Nieminen manages to hold on to the position though.

Nieminen has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Nieminen tries to control but osth wriggling away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

osth keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nieminen has hold of osth's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and osth manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
osth tries to buck Nieminen off but he can't manage it.
osth working to try and regain half guard.
osth squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
osth tries to reverse the position but Nieminen maintains control.
Nieminen controlling from the full mount.

Nieminen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force osth to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so osth shrugs it off.

osth really wants to buck Nieminen off and get back to his feet.

osth can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
osth is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Nieminen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Jari Nieminen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nieminen swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
