PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tsatsu Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Al Bundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tsatsu Gomi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Al Bundy!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bundy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Bundy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gomi is keeping the position for now.
Bundy is looking to work some ground and pound but Gomi has wrist control.
Gomi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gomi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bundy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gomi.
Gomi stops Bundy from passing to mount.

Gomi dodges the ground and pound from Bundy.
The ground and pound from Bundy seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bundy grinds an elbow into Gomi's temple.
Gomi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Gomi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bundy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bundy's back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bundy fending off the submission attempt from Gomi.

Bundy is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gomi gets his way!

Gomi is not going to allow Bundy to sit and survive in this position.

Gomi looking for the choke but no joy.
Bundy trying to control the hands but Gomi breaks the grip.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bundy defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Gomi's arms.

Gomi is looking for a choke. Bundy gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Bundy manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Bundy dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bundy moves in looking to clinch but Gomi pushes him off.
Gomi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gomi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Bundy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Bundy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Gomi is looking to control Bundy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gomi avoid being mounted?

Bundy sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Gomi defending well though.

Gomi looking for submissions off his back.
Bundy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gomi keeps working.
Bundy is pressing down on Gomi's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gomi is holding on for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Bundy is looking to take a break and control but Gomi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gomi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bundy pulls his head out easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bundy is trying to get back to full guard.

Gomi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Gomi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bundy is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bundy is looking to improve his position.
Gomi stalling.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gomi seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tsatsu Gomi will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Gomi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bundy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bundy.

Gomi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bundy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Bundy trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Gomi manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Gomi has gone for a leg lock! Bundy slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gomi's guard.

Bundy stands and throws Gomi's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bundy misses with the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gomi manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Gomi seems to be looking for submissions.
Gomi wants to free his trapped foot but Bundy is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Bundy wants to improve his position but Gomi is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bundy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gomi shoots and misses

and Bundy counters with a takedown into side control.
Gomi wants to control but Bundy postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bundy wants to control for a moment but Gomi uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Gomi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Gomi actively working from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight!
Al Bundy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bundy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
