PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nardo Putik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Hop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hop has chosen 2pac ambitionz az a ridah as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Nardo Putik has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nardo Putik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Hop!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hop throws a series of punches but Putik moves out of range.
Hop throws a right and a left that Putik avoids nicely.

Putik gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Putik has Hop pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hop manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Putik wants the takedown. Hop is fighting it off but Putik persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Hop's guard against the cage.
Putik is stalling in the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Putik wanted to stand there but Hop had control of the position.
Hop tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Putik trying to control but Hop is working from the bottom.
Putik postures up.
Putik stands and throws Hop's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Putik wants to control but Hop is keeping him busy.

Hop wants to get back to his feet.
Hop looks gassed!
Putik content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Hop is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Putik asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Hop takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hop bucks up and tries to throw Putik off but instead Putik has got his back!
Putik has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Hop's body.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Putik tightening his grip on Hop, looking for the choke.
Hop is trying to stand back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Putik just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Hop is trapped and Putik is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Hop is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Putik controlling from the back.
Putik struggling to keep hold of the position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Nardo Putik just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
A punch combination from Hop misses.

Putik moves into the clinch.

Putik breaks from the clinch.
Hop on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Putik. Putik obviously looking to wear him down.
Nice body punch from Putik.
Putik throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Putik has a takedown stuffed.
Putik tries a head kick but it misses.
A thudding body kick lands there by Putik!

A decent looking body kick lands there for Putik.

Putik clinches with his opponent.

Putik breaks from the clinch.

Putik darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Hop wants to get back to his feet.

Putik decides to stand up.
A slapping body kick lands there for Putik.

Putik fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hop, pushing him back against the cage.
Hop swings wildly with an uppercut but Putik uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hop fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hop misses with the head strike.
Hop stops a takedown attempt from Putik.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nardo Putik. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hop misses with the head strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nardo Putik dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Hop shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Putik counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hop!
Hop in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Putik is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hop can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hop tries to hold on but Putik postures up.
Putik controlling the pace for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hop keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Putik controlling from the full mount.

Putik gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Putik slips under a jab from Hop.

Putik has closed the distance and engaged Hop in a clinch.
Putik blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Putik tries for a takedown. No joy.
Putik drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hop gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Putik has Hop pushed against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Putik pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hop misses with a double jab
and Putik makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Hop really felt that one!
Hop misses with a jab, cross combination.

Putik closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hop to the mat! Hop manages to get full guard.
Hop wants to sweep here but Putik controlling him for the moment.
Hop wants to stand and escape but Putik is having none of it.
Hop is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hop wants to stand up but Putik is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Putik is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hop swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Putik takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Hop fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dan Hop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hop gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Putik counters with a shoot takedown. Hop fights it but they end up in guard.
Hop wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hop controls Putik momentarily but Putik frees himself.
Hop tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Putik working some strikes from top position.
Hop controls Putik momentarily but Putik frees himself.
Putik wants to pass the guard but Hop is keeping the position.

Putik stands and steps away. Hop gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Hop tries to clinch up

and Putik counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nardo Putik dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Hop clinches but Putik breaks the clinch

and Putik holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Putik's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Putik fails to pull guard.
Putik tries for a takedown but Hop manages to get underhooks.
Putik blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Putik breaks from the clinch.
Putik stuffs the takedown attempt from Hop. Hop gets slowly back to his feet.

Putik scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hop is being controlled here.
Putik advances to mount.
Nardo Putik overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hop tries to improve his position but Putik has taken his back! Putik has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hop tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Putik pushes Hop away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nardo Putik!
