PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Parker David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archer Christian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David comes into the arena with Slipknot - Duality blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Parker David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Archer Christian!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christian swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Christian just misses with a punch to the body.
Christian lands a head shot.
Christian ducks down and throws a hook to the body but David moves away.
Christian throws a combination. David tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Parker David has been cut.
Christian misses with a wild body shot.

Christian gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows David to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
David pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Christian is keeping the position for now.
David is working hard here to advance position.
Christian wants to stand up but David is controlling him.
Christian is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

David looking to sit in guard and control but Christian gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Christian loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Christian lands a couple of digs.
Christian stopping the sweep attempt from David.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now David is on top in guard.
David passes into half guard.

David looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

David is stalling here. Christian is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! David seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Christian has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
David tries to improve position but can't.
Christian in side control, throwing shots but David defends.
David taking punishment in the form of punches.
Christian lands some shots froms side control.
Christian in side control lands a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Christian tries to move to mount but David blocks the move with his legs.
Christian lands a nice forearm strike.
Christian lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Christian working away.
Christian lands a few punches from side control.
David is looking for a sweep.
Christian is trying to ground and pound but David uses the momentary lack of control by Christian to regain half guard.

David makes his way to full guard. A much better position for David.
Christian postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Christian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. David swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Christian must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Christian postures up in David's guard and throws a big left but David blocks it.
Christian trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Christianis looking to pass into half guard but David pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now David is in guard.

David drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Christian dives on top into guard.

Christian got a little sloppy there for a moment and David has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Christian has managed to get both his arms back between David's legs - danger averted.
David is breathing heavily.
Christian loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Christian tries to free his leg and advance position but David is retaining full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Christian is working David over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
David manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
David is looking to work his way around to Christian's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Archer Christian dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Parker David's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Christian displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from David.
No luck for Christian with that takedown attempt.
Christian rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but David moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Christian has his takedown stuffed

and David counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Christian keeping moving, preventing David from controlling successfully.
David pushes down on Christian's leg and manages to get into half guard.
David moves nicely into side control.
David laying and praying for a moment but Christian takes advantage and regains half guard.

Christian is refusing to be controlled, as David sits in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

David is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Christian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with David. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
David is pressing down on Christian's thigh, looking to free his foot. Christian is holding on for now.
David throwing shots but Christian is blocking nicely.
Christian pushes David off looking to stand but David dives back in and keeps control.
David tries to pass to full mount but Christian defends it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
David uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Christian.
David tries to bum rush Christian with a series of wild strikes but Christian uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Christian punishes David's body with a nice straight punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters circle momentarily. Christian darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Christian misses with a double jab.
David throws a left and a right that both miss
and Christian counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
David takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
David keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Christian.

Nice uppercut lands for Christian. That snapped David's head back.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
David shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Christian pinned against the cage. Christian gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Christian throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around David's waist but David gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Christian off to one side.
Parker David has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Archer Christian.
David takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Parker David is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Christian jabs David right on the nose. David blinks but takes it well.
David throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Christian's waist but Christian gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing David off to one side.
Christian swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by David.
Christian misses with the combination.

David takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Christian misses the shot to the body.

Christian gets a takedown into half guard.
Christian slips a nice elbow through David's hands, connecting with David's forehead.
David wants to improve his position but Christian is controlling well.
Christian throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Christian drops an elbow to the side of David's head.
Christian working over David with some ground and pound. David looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Archer Christian showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Parker David's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Christian just misses with a punch to the body.
David checks the leg kick.
Christian lands a jab to David's midsection.
Christian misses with a telegraphed body shot

and David counters with a takedown into side control.
David trying to control the position but Christian is working away.

David thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Christian prevents David from improving position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
David wants to take a breather but Christian manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for David.

David postures up in Christian's guard and throws a big left but Christian blocks it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
David swinging wildly here.
Parker David has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Christian throws a hook but David avoids it easily.
David blocks a leg kick.
Christian punishes David's body with a nice straight punch.
David takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Christian lands a lovely overhand right.
Christian throws a series of punches but David avoids them all with ease.
Archer Christian seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Christian motions for David to come forward. Christian throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Christian jabs David right on the nose. David blinks but takes it well.
David looks to score with a jab to the body but Christian is just out of range.
Christian lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Archer Christian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Christian fakes high and swings low for a body shot but David manages to avoid it.
Christian dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Christian jabs David right on the nose. David blinks but takes it well.


David is rocked!
Christian throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh David colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Christian as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and David is left battered and dazed whilst Christian and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Archer Christian!
