PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Pingshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Torch Umvrionne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pingshaw's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Heart of a Champion. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anthony Pingshaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Torch Umvrionne!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yuuki Gou and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Umvrionne throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pingshaw was covering up waiting for the punch and Umvrionne finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Pingshaw on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pingshaw tries to get out of the position.
Pingshaw controls Umvrionne momentarily but Umvrionne frees himself.

Pingshaw looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Umvrionne looking to pass the guard.

Umvrionne is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Umvrionne wants to control from the top but Pingshaw keeps moving.
Umvrionne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pingshaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pingshaw looking for a guillotine here but Umvrionne defends easily.

Pingshaw looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pingshaw really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Umvrionne scores a takedown into full mount!
Pingshaw is desperately trying to improve his position but Umvrionne has a good base and remains in mount.
Umvrionne trying to control but Pingshaw is having none of it.
Pingshaw is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pingshaw is working hard here to advance position.

Umvrionne lands a big elbow.
Pingshaw is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Umvrionne prevents Pingshaw from getting the reversal.
Umvrionne looking to control and managing it successfully.

Pingshaw is breathing heavily.
Umvrionne can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pingshaw is looking to escape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Umvrionne controlling from mount.

Umvrionne looking to control but Pingshaw is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pingshaw has given up his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pingshaw trying to control the hands but Umvrionne won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Umvrionne keeps control of the position easily here as Pingshaw tries to buck him off.
Pingshaw trying to control the action but Umvrionne just sinks the hooks in.
Umvrionne wants to control but Pingshaw is keeping busy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Umvrionne is not going to allow Pingshaw to sit and survive in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Torch Umvrionne dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Pingshaw shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Umvrionne is doing well to control the position and prevent Pingshaw from advancing to side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Torch Umvrionne just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Umvrionne drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pingshaw is trying to control Umvrionne's posture but Umvrionne avoids it.
Umvrionne is breathing heavily.
Umvrionne scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Pingshaw to see if he's OK.
Pingshaw wants to control but Umvrionne postures up.

Umvrionne decides to stand back up.
Pingshaw misses with a takedown attempt - Umvrionne sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Umvrionne lands a jab.
Pingshaw tries to clinch but Umvrionne moves out of range.
Pingshaw tries to clinch up.
Umvrionne shoots for a takedown but Pingshaw saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Pingshaw shoots for a double leg takedown but Umvrionne sprawls well. He's pushed Pingshaw's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Umvrionne closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Umvrionne lands in his opponent's guard.

Pingshaw controls Umvrionne momentarily but Umvrionne frees himself.
Pingshaw is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Umvrionne is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Pingshaw wants to stand and escape but Umvrionne is having none of it.
Pingshaw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Umvrionne on the ground.
Pingshaw looking for a sweep. Not yet Pingshaw, not yet.
Pingshaw is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Umvrionne trying to control but Pingshaw is working from the bottom.

Pingshaw manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Umvrionne really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Pingshaw looking to finish Umvrionne with some ground and pound. This is bad for Umvrionne!
Umvrionne wants to hold on but Pingshaw pushes him away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pingshaw lands a nice shot to the head.
Pingshaw lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Umvrionne tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Umvrionne is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Umvrionne tries to reverse the position but Pingshaw maintains control.
Pingshaw landing strikes from the mount and Umvrionne is in trouble!
Pingshaw cracks Umvrionne with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Umvrionne manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Umvrionne gets back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Torch Umvrionne showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Pingshaw with a lazy takedown attempt

and Umvrionne counters with a shoot takedown. Pingshaw fights it but they end up in guard.

Umvrionne tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Umvrionne has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pingshaw is looking for a sweep.
Umvrionne tries to advance to mount but can't.
Pingshaw struggling a bit here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pingshaw can't do much from the bottom here.
Umvrionne staying calm.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Umvrionne fails with the takedown

and Pingshaw counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pingshaw trying to control the action but Umvrionne is working from the bottom.
Pingshaw perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Pingshaw wants to work for an arm triangle but Umvrionne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Pingshaw is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Umvrionne is just riding it out for now. Pingshaw eventually gives up the hold.

Umvrionne is pressing down on Pingshaw's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Pingshaw drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Umvrionne manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pingshaw has Umvrionne in his guard.
Pingshaw can't keep his opponent in guard - Umvrionne advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Umvrionne is trying to control the action in half guard but Pingshaw is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Pingshaw is trying to stand back up but Umvrionne is controlling him

Pingshaw is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Umvrionne pulls his head out easily.
Umvrionne tries to stand but can't do so whilst Pingshaw controls his leg.
Pingshaw wants to improve his position but Umvrionne is controlling well.
Anthony Pingshaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Torch Umvrionne is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pingshaw swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Umvrionne counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

And that's the end of the fight!
Torch Umvrionne comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Umvrionne has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
