And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makashima lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cro Cop circles away quickly and effectively.
Cro Cop shoots in but Makashima avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Makashima tries a head kick but it misses.

Makashima drives through and clinches with Cro Cop against the cage.
Makashima pushes Cro Cop back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Makashima lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Makashima lands an elbow inside that Cro Cop shrugs off.
Cro Cop on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Makashima's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cro Cop is defended easily by Makashima.
Cro Cop takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Makashima connects with a solid leg kick.

Cro Cop closes this distance looking for a takedown but Makashima circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mirko Cro Cop. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Makashima pushes Cro Cop up against the cage in a clinch.

Makashima manages to break the clinch.
Makashima throws a leg kick which misses Cro Cop's front leg but catches the back leg as Cro Cop tries to avoid it.
Kenta Makashima is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cro Cop takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Cro Cop is breathing heavily.

Makashima rushes Cro Cop and presses him up against the cage.
Makashima gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Makashima lands a hook that snaps the head of Cro Cop backwards.

Makashima breaks the clinch.
Makashima throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Cro Cop stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Makashima.
Makashima fakes the leg kick and cracks Cro Cop in the body.
Kenta Makashima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cro Cop moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Makashima goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Makashima lands a head kick. Cro Cop smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Makashima scores with a nice body kick.
Makashima tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice shot lands for Makashima.
A nice inside leg kick there by Makashima. That's going to slow Cro Cop down.
Makashima lands the left hand.
Makashima feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Cro Cop's calf.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Makashima utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Makashima creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Cro Cop's defenses.
Makashima unloads a knee to the mid-section. Cro Cop lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Makashima lands a nice elbow.
Makashima comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Makashima breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Makashima goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
A thudding body kick lands there by Makashima!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Makashima lands a brutal head kick. Cro Cop looks out on his feet and Makashima throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
