Liukkonen moves into range and clinches up with Cote.
Liukkonen works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Cote working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Liukkonen.
Cote wants to sweep here but Liukkonen controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Liukkonen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Liukkonen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cote trying to keep a closed guard but Liukkonen is proving a slippery customer.
Liukkonen drops back looking for a leg! Cote is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cote manages to kick Liukkonen off! Liukkonen jumps back into Cote's guard.
Cote has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Liukkonen has passed into side control.

Cote tries to hold on but Liukkonen pushes him away.
Liukkonen throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cote because Liukkonen loaded up on that one.
Liukkonen manages to capitalize on a mistake by Cote to take his back!
Cote is in bad spot here.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Liukkonen looking to break Cote's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Cote remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Liukkonen will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
I really don't envy Cote right now.
Liukkonen misses with punches from the back.
Liukkonen has his arm under Cote's chin here. Game over son! Liukkonen squeezes tightly and Cote is forced to tap out!
