PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seth Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seth Sanders will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bruce Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Seth Sanders!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kent.
Kent throws an elbow but Sanders slips to the side and avoids it well.
Kent is working Sanders over with some ground and pound from side control.
Kent working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kent controlling the position from side mount.
Kent fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Kent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kent misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Sanders parries the strikes from Kent easily there. Kent is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Sanders to escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kent sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Sanders is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Kent throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Sanders works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sanders throws a right and a left that Kent avoids nicely.
Sanders goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A punch combination from Sanders misses.
Kent shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanders as he avoids it easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sanders looks to land a combination but Kent avoids it well.
Sanders lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


It looks like Bruce Kent has been cut.
Seth Sanders is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Sanders throws a looping overhand right but Kent ducks down to avoid it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kent.

Kent shoots in and bounces Sanders off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sanders can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Sanders throws a low kick but Kent avoids it.
Sanders tries to bum rush Kent with a series of wild strikes but Kent uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kent connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kent shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kent was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kent fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kent landing strikes, looking to finish!
BOOM! Kent connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kent thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Kent throws some wild stikes that Sanders manages to avoid easily.
Sanders is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kent sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
A nice elbow there by Kent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Kent dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bruce Kent's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sanders tries a head kick but it misses.

Kent pushes Sanders up against the cage in a clinch.
Sanders has had enough of the clinch but Kent keeps him there for the moment.

Kent breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kent throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kent tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kent drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sanders gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sanders is pressed up against the cage. Kent has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sanders down to the mat. Sanders avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanders uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kent.
Kent looks to score with a jab to the body but Sanders is just out of range.
Kent lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Kent rushes Sanders and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kent wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Kent. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kent has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sanders is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sanders's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kent tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanders was well out of range. Poor timing from Kent.

Sanders looks for the body kick but Kent saw that one coming.
Sanders lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

and Sanders counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kent moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Sanders trying to control the position but instead, Kent has worked for underhooks and has pushed Sanders into the cage.
Sanders swings wildly with an uppercut but Kent uses good head movement to avoid it.

Kent is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sanders gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kent lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Sanders is trying to break the clinch but Kent is controlling him.
Kent is trying to drag Sanders to the mat but Sanders just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kent drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sanders gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Seth Sanders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Sanders counters with a nice uppercut.
Sanders avoids the body shot from Kent.
Kent connects with a looping right hand.

Sanders throws a sloppy head kick and Kent moves out of range easily.
Kent throws a nice looking combination but Sanders bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Kent clinches up with Sanders and pushes him back against the cage.
Kent is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sanders goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kent prevents it.
Kent is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sanders pulls him back up using the underhooks.

and Sanders counters with a body kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sanders throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kent counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kent is looking to clinch but Sanders is avoiding it.
Kent looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sanders slips a jab and a cross from Kent.
Sanders tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sanders misses with a double jab.
Kent uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sanders.

Kent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Sanders wants to sweep here but Kent controlling him for the moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kent's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sanders avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kent throws a strike but Sanders rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kent shoots and misses
and Sanders counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sanders looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Seth Sanders comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sanders has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
