PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kelvin Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spyde Radic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Parker kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Armin Van Buren - Sail. Spyde Radic will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelvin Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Spyde Radic!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A clash of legs there as Parker blocks the low kick.
Radic moves in looking to clinch but Parker pushes him off.
Parker swats away the attempt to clinch by Radic.
Radic tries to clinch up but Parker circles away and keeps his distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Radic looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Radic throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Radic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Radic tries to clinch but Parker moves out of range.
A slow jab from Parker misses its intended target.
Radic lands with a kick to the temple. Parker shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Kelvin Parker has been cut.
Spyde Radic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Radic defending well as Parker loads up on a big left hand.
Radic tries to clinch up but Parker circles away and keeps his distance.
Parker connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Radic fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Radic misses with a head kick.

Parker swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Radic.
A big right from Parker misses.
Parker just misses with a punch to the body.
Parker circles away from the clinch attempt.

Radic fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Parker, pushing him back against the cage.
Radic gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Parker tries for a takedown but Radic manages to get underhooks.
Radic lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Parker tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Radic just stands there and leans against the cage.
Parker blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Radic breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Parker shoots in and bounces Radic off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Parker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Radic swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Radic lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Parker!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parker sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Radic is working for a kimura but Parker is defending it quite comfortably.
Radic seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Radic works his foot free and advances to mount.
Radic avoids the attempt from Parker to control.
Radic connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Radic stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Parker bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Radic tries to clinch up.
Parker waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Radic.
Radic throws a sloppy head kick and Parker moves out of range easily.
Radic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Radic connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Parker looks to land a combination. Radic sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Radic fails with an attempt to clinch.
Radic tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Parker avoids the head kick by Radic.
Radic wants to clinch up but Parker keeps it at a distance.
Parker swats away the attempt to clinch by Radic.

Radic moves in looking to clinch but Parker pushes him off.

A head kick misses from Radic.
Radic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Radic. Parker shrugs it off though.
Radic tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Parker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Radic rushes Parker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Parker pulls guard.
Radic trying to control the position from guard on top but Parker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Radic drops back, looking for a kneebar! Parker looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Parker looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Parker!

Parker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Radic is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Parker lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Radic regains half guard, as Parker was trying to land strikes.

Radic is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Parker pulls his head out easily.
Parker is pressing down on Radic's thigh, looking to free his foot. Radic is holding on for now.
Parker throwing shots but Radic is blocking nicely.
Radic moves into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Radic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Parker stopping the sweep attempt from Radic.
Parker with a flurry of punches that miss.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Parker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Parker forces his way into half guard.

Radic tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Parker looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Radic is looking for a sweep. Parker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Radic is looking to control Parker's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Radic avoid being mounted?
Radic wants to improve his position but Parker is controlling well.
Parker throwing shots but Radic is blocking nicely.

Parker passes to side control.
Radic is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Radic gets full guard.
Parker looking to pass the guard.
Parker won't allow Radic to sweep him here.

Parker missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Parker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Radic manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Parker manages to get himself to full guard.

Parker working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Radic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Radic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Parker looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Radic puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Parker wants to improve his position but Radic is controlling well.

Radic thows a huge punch but Parker dodges it nicely.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kelvin Parker will probably get the nod.

Radic tries to close the distance and clinch up but Parker swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Parker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Radic wants to improve his position but Parker is controlling well.
Radic wants to control but Parker is keeping busy.

Radic makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Radic uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Parker.
Radic tries to clinch but Parker is having none of it.

Radic shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Parker's guard.

Radic is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Parker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Parker has escaped and now he's on top!

Kelvin Parker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Parker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Radic working for a submission but Parker is keeping him at bay.

Parker regains full guard. Nicely done.

Parker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Radic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Radic stands up and waves to Parker to follow him.
Parker thows a left - swing and a miss!

Parker takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Radic gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Parker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Parker tries to free his leg and advance position but Radic is retaining full guard.

Radic looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Parker throws a big right hand that misses.
Parker forces his way into half guard.
Radic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Parker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Parker's back!
Radic not allowing Parker to control his hands.

Radic is looking for the choke from the back position but Parker is controlling his hands well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kelvin Parker.
I think Parker has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
