The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mughes moves forwards but Mcgrady connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mughes ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Mcgrady decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mcgrady lands a nice looking body shot.
Mughes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mughes feints and then cracks Mcgrady's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mcgrady down.
Mcgrady throws a lazy right hand but Mughes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Mcgrady's corner calls for a 1-2. Mcgrady obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Popeye Mcgrady seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcgrady changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mughes tries to avoid it but Mcgrady manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mughes to the ground. Mughes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Popeye Mcgrady's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
