PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Balmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitv Poko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Poko's choice of entrance music: jerry butler only the strong survive. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poko pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Balmer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Poko.
Balmer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Poko stuffs the takedown attempt from Balmer. Balmer gets slowly back to his feet.
Balmer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Poko tries to avoid it but Balmer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Poko to the ground. Poko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jimmy Balmer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Balmer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Poko's waist but Poko gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balmer off to one side.

Poko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Balmer is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Balmer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Poko is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Balmer, into his guard.

Poko gets to his feet. Balmer looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That was a close round but I would say that Jimmy Balmer will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Poko has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Balmer is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Poko yanks on the arm and Balmer is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Poko.
