Williams has chosen Shy FX - On the Run as his entrance music. Shinya Aoki had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams just misses with a punch to the body.

Aoki looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Aoki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Aoki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Aoki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Williams manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Aoki has Williams in his guard.
Williams is looking to stand up but Aoki won't let him.

Williams wants to stand but Aoki has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Williams stands up and waves to Aoki to follow him.
Williams misses with a two punch combination.

Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aoki was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams.
Aoki takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Aoki walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Williams throws a hook but Aoki avoids it easily.

Aoki uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Williams.

Williams leaves Aoki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Williams lands with a hook. Aoki tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Aoki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Williams, who protects the arm well.

Aoki is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Williams is trying to maintain the position but Aoki is very close to passing his half guard.
Williams looks like he's trying to stand up.

Williams kicks off Aoki and gets to his feet.
Williams misses with a body shot.
Aoki looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Aoki looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Williams!

Aoki looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Aoki moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Williams has worked his arm free - good work by Williams!

Williams sneaks out the side door and pushes Aoki away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Williams throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Aoki.

Aoki steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Williams.
Horrible takedown by Aoki or perhaps it was just good defense by Williams which made him look bad.
Williams bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Aoki's head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Aoki doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Williams is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Aoki is rocked!
Williams cracks Aoki with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Aoki tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Williams pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Aoki is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
