The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ghio has a takedown stuffed.
Ghio misses with a double jab.
Ghio shoots in looking for a takedown. Lawal tries to sprawl out of it but Ghio keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Lawal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lawal displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ghio.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabio Ghio. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ghio tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ghio shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lawal as he jumps to the side.
Ghio shoots in for a takedown but Lawal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ghio shoots in but Lawal avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lawal is looking to clinch.
Ghio shoots for a double leg takedown but Lawal sprawls well. He's pushed Ghio's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lawal lands a head kick!
Ghio throws a head kick but Lawal moves out of range.
Ghio shoots in for a takedown but Lawal shows good takedown defense.

Lawal moves into the clinch successfully.
Ghio tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ghio is breathing heavily.
Lawal wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ghio got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lawal has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ghio has managed to get both his arms back between Lawal's legs - danger averted.
Ghio throws a big right hand that misses.
Ghio prevents Lawal from getting back to his feet.
Ghio has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lawal is pulling down on Ghio's head. It's preventing any offense from Ghio, at least for the moment.

Lawal looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Ghio is defending well. Lawal quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Ghio has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Lawal celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
