PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Eagle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen Cavite as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Silva!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch up.
Eagle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Silva is looking to clinch.
Silva looks for a takedown but Eagle sprawls well.

David Eagle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Silva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Eagle slaps away a takedown attempt from Silva, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Eagle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva avoids the head kick by Eagle.
Eagle throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Silva tries to clinch but Eagle moves out of range.
Eagle throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Eagle sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Marcus Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Eagle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eagle swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Eagle throws a head kick that misses.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Eagle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Eagle throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Eagle pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Eagle sprawls well. Eagle wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Silva tries to clinch up but Eagle circles away and keeps his distance.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eagle tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eagle to the ground. Eagle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Eagle throws a body kick that misses.

Eagle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
David Eagle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
David Eagle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Silva.
Silva misses with a jab, cross combination.
Eagle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No luck for Silva with that takedown attempt.
Eagle tries a head kick but it misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eagle pinned against the cage. Eagle gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Silva throws a leg kick but Eagle sees it coming and checks it nicely.
A head kick misses from Eagle.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Eagle which made him look bad.

and Eagle counters with a head kick. That will keep Silva thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Eagle throws a wild body kick that Silva sees coming a mile off.
Eagle throws a head kick that misses.
Eagle circles away from the clinch attempt
and Eagle counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Silva is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Eagle avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Silva fails with the takedown
and Eagle counters with a head kick.
Silva gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Eagle counters with a good, hard body kick but Silva shrugs it off.

and Eagle finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Eagle dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Eagle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Eagle drops an elbow to the side of Silva's head.
Silva manages to get to full guard.

Silva manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Eagle tries a head kick but it misses.

and Eagle counters with a head kick.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Eagle circles away.
Silva has a takedown stuffed.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Marcus Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
David Eagle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

David Eagle showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Eagle, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
