Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabricio dos Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Mott!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mott bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
dos Santos looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

dos Santos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than dos Santos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mott is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mott tries to lock up and control but dos Santos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mott tries to hold on but dos Santos postures up.
Mott is looking to improve his position but dos Santos isn't that keen on the idea.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

dos Santos is trying to stick to Mott's back but Mott is turning into dos Santos. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in dos Santos's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mott.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mott shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in dos Santos's guard.

Mott thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mott must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

dos Santos is looking for a triangle but Mott pushes his legs off easily.

Mott is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

dos Santos controls Mott momentarily but Mott frees himself.
dos Santos keeping moving, preventing Mott from controlling successfully.
Mott working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mott wants to control from the top but dos Santos keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mott is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mott drops back looking for a leg! dos Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and dos Santos manages to kick Mott off! Mott jumps back into dos Santos's guard.
dos Santos wants to get back to his feet but Mott is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mott pushes dos Santos up against the cage in a clinch.
dos Santos stops a takedown attempt from Mott.

Mott has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but dos Santos regains guard immediately.

Mott is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! dos Santos is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! dos Santos has escaped and now he's on top!
dos Santos stands and throws Mott's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mott is looking to regain half guard here but dos Santos keeps moving and retains side control.
Mott wants to control but dos Santos postures up.
Mott manages to work his way to half guard, despite dos Santos's best efforts.
dos Santos is trying to control the action in half guard but Mott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mott is looking to improve his position.
Mott is looking to escape.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mott fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
dos Santos darts in trying to clinch

and Mott holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mott is trying to break the clinch but dos Santos is controlling him.
Mott jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as dos Santos walks away with a smile on his face. Mott gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Fabricio dos Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Mott.

Mott gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mott wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by dos Santos, who protects the arm well.

dos Santos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

John Mott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mott winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
