PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Elam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lou Damico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lou Damico told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lou Damico!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damico lunges at Elam with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Elam's hand.
Damico thows a left - swing and a miss!
Damico slaps away a takedown attempt from Elam, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Damico throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Elam sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Good standup being displayed there by Damico as he connects with a hook.
Damico stuffs the takedown attempt from Elam. Elam gets slowly back to his feet.
Damico connects with a good right hand that stumbles Elam. Elam circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Elam takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Elam takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Elam steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Damico.
Decent striking displayed by Damico there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Damico cracks Elam with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Damico moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Elam walks into a straight right hand from Damico.
Elam looks for a takedown but Damico sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Elam. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Elam is trying hard to land a takedown here. Damico sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Damico lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Elam shoots in for a takedown but Damico shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Elam is breathing heavily.

Elam looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Damico listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Elam takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Elam takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Elam.
Damico lands a jab to Elam's midsection.
Elam drops his hands momentarily and Damico takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Elam tries for a takedown but Damico sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Elam gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Damico connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Elam momentarily.
Nice body punch from Damico.
Damico dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Damico lands a big right hand that sends Elam crashing to the mat! Damico stays standing though and waves Elam back to his feet!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Elam walks straight into a right hand from Damico - that's dropped him! Damico jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Elam from any more punishment! Elam complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
