The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks throws a series of punches but Silva avoids them all with ease.
Brooks closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. Brooks pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brooks lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Silva circles away quickly and effectively.

Brooks is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silva asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Brooks is desperately trying to improve his position but Silva has a good base and remains in mount.
Brooks has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Silva's lack of action.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brooks swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Brooks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Silva is looking to stand back up but Brooks counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Silva.
Jason Brooks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brooks is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well.
