Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Munch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tray Braxton!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Munch fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Braxton throws a series of punches but Munch moves out of range.
Braxton fails with the takedown

and Munch counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Braxton's guard now.
Munch trying to control but Braxton is working from the bottom.
Munch will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Munch won't allow Braxton to sweep him here.

Braxton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Braxton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Munch is aware though and is defending well.

Munch drops back looking for a leg! Braxton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Braxton manages to kick Munch off! Munch jumps back into Braxton's guard.

Braxton is looking for a triangle here but Munch uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Munch decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Munch is looking to clinch.
Munch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Braxton counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Braxton is looking to pass Munch's guard but actually Munch recovers to full guard.
Munch manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Munch tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Braxton slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Braxton looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Munch perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Munch trying to control the action but Braxton is working from the bottom.

Munch stands up and beckons Braxton to join him on the feet.
Munch misses with a takedown

and Braxton counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Munch. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Braxton looking to pass the guard.

Braxton drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Munch dives on top into guard.
Braxton looks gassed!

Munch got a little sloppy there for a moment and Braxton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Munch has managed to get both his arms back between Braxton's legs - danger averted.

Braxton isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Munch stacks Braxton on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Munch!
A lull in the action here as Munch stalls from top position.

Munch decides to stand up, so the ref orders Braxton to his feet.

and Braxton counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Munch!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Munch is looking to get to half guard.
Braxton wants to take Munch's back here but Munch is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Munch tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Braxton goes for an armbar but Munch turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Munch.

Braxton looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Munch has picked Braxton up and slammed him! Braxton can't keep hold of the triangle and Munch manages to pass to side control!
Braxton is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Braxton is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Munch is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Braxton is trying to reverse the position but instead Munch has taken his back - oops!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Munch will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Braxton with a poor takedown
and Munch counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Munch throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Braxton.
Munch dives in and grabs Braxton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Braxton pushes down on Munch's head and hops out.

and Braxton counters with a nice double leg into side control. Munch won't be happy with that.

Braxton stands up and beckons Munch to his feet.
Munch tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Braxton counters with a single leg into guard. Munch didn't expect that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Braxton drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Munch manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Braxton has Munch in his guard.
Munch controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Munch in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Braxton tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Munch!
